1872 3CS PR65 Certification #50133268, PCGS #3723
Owner's Comments
CAC 0590. “Above-Average Eye Appeal. 1872 3CS PR65 PCGS. CAC. Deep rose and cobalt-blue patina in the obverse field frames the lighter-toned devices. The reverse exhibits reddish toning laced with whispers of sky-blue. The design elements are sharply struck and both sides have been well-cared for, further enhancing the eye appeal. Population Data (8/15): PCGS reports 38 submissions in PR65 and 22 finer. NGC shows 43 Gems and 31 finer. Heritage Commentary: The meager 1,000-piece circulation-strike mintage and its subsequent rarity in all grades places heavy pressure on the proofs from date collectors. The present Gem proof with its above-average eye appeal is an excellent choice for a high-grade date collection. Provenance: R.M. Smythe (11/2000), lot 1612.(Registry values: N1793).”
