Expert Comments

David Akers (1975/88)

Moderately scarce, but generally available in choice condition when available at all. More rare than the 1880 despite the latter' significantly lower mintage. Varieties exist of the 1879 with some or all of the letters of LIBERTY missing. Deceptive first strikes are occasionally offered as proofs, and true proofs are very rare.
