Owner's Comments
Seller states: "1880 S MORGAN DOLLAR PCGS MS 64". This auction opened on the 8th of September 2022 @ 6:00:03 pm PDT with an opening bid of $0.01. The auction received 24 bids from 11 bidders with my bid of $136.51 being the final bid @ 5:59:59 pm PDT with a fight with 2 other bidders @ 5:59:56 & 5:59:59 pm PDT & the auction ending @ 6:00 pm PDT the 15th of September 2022. I inspected the coin with my Vantage 10X loupe on the 03 of October 2022 and describe it thusly. The Obverse has a cameo strike that is light enough to not deserve the designation but can be seen with correct tilting toward the eyes and the seller's auction photograph was set to really display this look. Scuffing marks at the base of the neck and just below the chin line at the top front of the neck, scuffing marks across all of the cheek area eyebrow area & highest hairlines, small light dark spots in the field below the "BU" of PLURIBUS" & "NU" of "UNUM", a small scrape on the 2nd "8" of the date., The Reverse has the same cameo strike as the Obverse and is too light to receive that designation. the same small dark spotting below the Eagle's feathers and the branches and moving up the left side to the wing tips, shiny slide marks across the high points of the Eagle's chest. feathers and some on the wing feathers.

The 1880-S Morgan Dollar is one of the most common coins in the series. It is fairly easy to find up to MS66 condition. In MS67 to MS68 they are much scarcer. In MS69 they are considered rare, as few examples exist in this condition or higher.
