CAC 0754. “1899 Nickel, Beautifully Toned MS65. 1899 5C MS65 PCGS. CAC. Gleaming luster appears amid rose-gold centers that deepen at the rims to pale ice-blue and violet patina, creating fantastic eye appeal. All of the stars and Liberty's hair are quite sharply struck, although a couple of thin marks appear on the lower portion of her profile. A beautiful example of the date. Ex: Purchased from Larry Whitlow (5/2007).(Registry values: N991).”

In 1899, production of the Liberty Head Nickel resumed with a vengeance, this time setting the highest record since 1868. As a result, this date is very common in all grades except MS67, where only a single example (an MS67+) has been certified by PCGS.

Well struck examples seem to be the norm, but others exist with weakly struck stars, as well.
