This coin at first presents as an untoned example, and one might conclude that it has therefore been dipped. However, like the 1895-O quarter in this set, upon closer inspection one sees a thick and original skin of luster and subtle toning. Although not as notorious as its "O"-mint predecessors, the 1899-O is another very tough date in this premium gem condition.
