This is the last year in which the U.S. Mint struck Indian Cents in either circulation strikes or Proofs. The mintage of the 1909 Proof is relatively high for the series, and is one of the more common Proof coins in the Indian Cent series. However, coins displaying Cameo surfaces are considered very scarce with less than a dozen known.
