SEMI-KEY DATE Compared to post 1933 Lincoln cents the 1933-D with a mintage of 6.2 million are scarce, perhaps even rare, Yet, well-struck coins with Full Details and original color are not too difficult to find in the higher grades. // THE 21ST AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION, REPEALING PROHIBITION, WAS RATIFIED.

According to a notice in the June 1934 issue of The Numismatist (p. 416), collectors could still purchase Uncirculated 1933-D Cents for "the face value of the coins and an amount sufficient to cover the mail charrges by first-class mail."
