Owner's Comments

On the 18th of March 2025 and using my ELIKLIV microscope and Vantage 10X loupe, I examined this coin and describe it thusly. The Obverse has a light mark on the top of his right shoulder, marks on the forehead & cheek area, 2 verticle long scratches between the rim edge and Lincoln's nose. I see no toning, spotting, or cloudiness. The Reverse has a mark on the "O" of "ONE & a mark at the bottom right leg of the "N" of "ONE, a verticle scratch at the bottom of the "T" of "CENT". I do not see any toning,s potting, or cloudiness except for several black carbon spots between the rim edge and the bottom of the right wheat head. This is a nice coin with strong red color and ms65 surfaces. This coin is held in a PCGS Generation 3.1 holder used from March 1993 to September 1998. This holder is well scratched over the coin and could use a good polish.

According to a notice in the June 1934 issue of The Numismatist (p. 416), collectors could still purchase Uncirculated 1933-D Cents for "the face value of the coins and an amount sufficient to cover the mail charrges by first-class mail."
