By 1969, the coin shortage of the early 1960’s was over and the mint could once again concentrate on collector edition issues. Most proof nickels in this year have great “eye appeal” and are easily obtained. The frosted cameo appearance is more common and the mint also paid special attention in handling the coins which yield better quality specimens with fewer nicks and abrasions.
