Four of Americas forefathers are predominantly featured on the obverse of the 1991-D Mount Rushmore Silver Half Dollar.Obverse: From left to right, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln’s portraits are intricately carved on Mount Rushmore, which also happens to be the world’s largest stone sculpture. Below Mount Rushmore are the words In God We Trust and the year 1991, the date in which the coins were issued. Arched below are the words Mount Rushmore.
Reverse: The words United States of America elegantly surround an American bison. Above the bison are the words Golden Anniversary. Behind the bison is the D mint mark indicating that the coins were struck at the Denver Mint. Arched below the bison is the motto E Pluribus Unum and the words Half Dollar. The design is adorned and encircled by 50 stars representing the 50 States of America.
Overview: Mint pre- issue price for the Mint State 1991-D Mount Rushmore Half Dollar was $6 each. Mint regular issue price for the Mint State 1991-D Mount Rushmore Half Dollar was $7 each. Maximum authorized mintage was 2,500,000 coins.
The U.S Mint also produced a 1991-D Mount Rushmore Silver Half Dollar in a proof format. Additionally, $1 Silver and $5 Gold 1991-D Mount Rushmore mint state and proof coins were also produced. There were no 1991 $10 gold coins produced with the Mount Rushmore design.
