The 1992-D Lincoln Cent
Denver Mint struck nearly 4.5 billion 1992-D Lincoln Memorial Cents (#3101). In any typical production year, such a massive mintage would render the issue unremarkable to collectors. However, the incidental "muling" of a Proof reverse die with a business-strike obverse has ignited significant interest in the numismatic community.
The common variety of the date accounts for virtually the entire mintage and is known for its high production quality in Mint State. These coins are frequently found in exceptional condition, yielding a high volume of nearly perfect specimens.
