2012-W $1 Burnished Silver Eagle First Strike SP70 Certification #26361686, PCGS #514927
Owner's Comments
On the 12th of May 2026, and using my ELIKLIV microscope and Vantage 10X loupe, I examined this coin and describe it thusly. The Obverse shows no scratches, marks, or dings. I see no toning, spotting, or cloudiness. The Reverse shows no scratches, marks, or dings. I see no toning or cloudiness but gold colored water spots are seen between the "U" & "N" and "I" & "T" and above the "T" at the rim edge of "UNITED", between the "S" & "T" of "STATES" and on the rim edge above the "D" of "UNITED" and clockwise to the "A" of "STATES", a spot between the "A" of "STATES" and below to the top left star, a spot on the eagle's left wing about half way up and another spot above the wing edge and upward toward the 1st "A" of "AMERICA", 5 gold spots just below the ribbon at "UNUM" at the wing edge and to the right at the "ICA" of "AMERICA", 2 small light spots between the olive branch in the eagle's right claw with 1 just up from the first leaves and the wing edge and the other just above the top leaves.
This is a very nice coin with the only issues being the gold water spots on the Reverse. The coin is held in a PCGS Generation 4.5 "First Strike" holder, first used in December 2011 and until January of 2013. This holder is old enough to predate when PCGS made the change from labeling a Burnished Eagle from an MS to a SP designation. The rear label has a pink rectangle adhered over it by a previous owner with an "LT" & "-E" written in black pen.
