Stay. CAC 3/1. Only have seen one White coin at 65+ and above. One was a 66. All others are toned and most are unattractive
Only 7 PCGS 1856 Snow 3’s in 64 are listed by PCGS with Snow 3 on the label and No one knows exactly how many of the 7 are CAC’d. Only 8 coins exist in higher grades with the Snow 3 designation on the label. All 1856’s are lumped together whether Snow 3’s (634 Minted in 1856) or Snow 9’s (Around 1500 Minted in 1858-1860) when looking at populations. THIS ONE IS CAC’d and by percentages likely on two 64’s are CAC’d and only two in higher grades are CAC’d of the Snow 3 coins designated on the label. Huge mistakes in 1856 Snow 3 Graded coins exist as most coins listed as MS (which neither PCGs or NGC will designate any longer) can not be proven to be MS since there is no doubling of the date which is the only way to prove it for sure. The coins minted on the steam press (which is a high volume press made for making coins intended for circulation) occasionally had a doubled date but most have weak strikes compared to the Screw Press made for Proof coins. Both presses were used to make the 634 coins given to Congress as a test. So the 634 Snow 3 minted coins looked the same whether minted on the Steam Press or the Screw Press since the same Die Set was used for both except for the occasional date doubling and the weaker strikes from the Steam Press. This coin has a weak strike on the obverse (Left wing top, breast feathers and tail) and obverse is the same with weakness on the high points. This coin was made on a Steam Press almost assuredly which would make it an MS coin since minted on a Steam Press.
