The 1916 Proof Set is very small, consisting of only a Cent and a Nickel, both with a matte finish. Unfortunately, the nation's new silver coinage of that year was not officially struck in Proof, although a few satin finish pieces are known which display exceptional detail. With the impending entry of the US into World War I, all Proof Coinage was suspended for 20 years after 1916.
