Proof gold coins, as a group, are the most valuable and rarest of all U.S. coins. And in this rarified atmosphere, the early ones (pre-1858) border on "unobtainable." For the first two types in this set (the Capped Bust) fewer than a dozen have been graded, and those could possibly include duplicates. Suffice it to say that this set will enjoy limited participation.
