1804 Mint Set Current Finest List

1804 is one of the very few years with no Half Dollar. There is also no Half Dime this year, so four pieces will complete the set. That's a bit easier said than done, as the Cent, Dime and Quarter are all significantly better dates this year. In fact the Cent was so scarce that restrikes were made around 1860 to satisfy collector demand. The Quarter (the first since 1796) by virtue of it's minuscule mintage of only 6,738 pieces is somewhat available in lower grade, but above VF, becomes both scarce and expensive. The Dime is also a very low mintage piece (8,265 pcs) and like the Quarter, escalates in value very quickly in grades above VF. Only the Half Cent this year is anywhere near "common." Not the easiest set to complete, but one that would surely impress the experienced numismatist.
