1819 Mint Set with Gold
Due to the sporadic nature of the mint's activities in the early years, many of the mints sets from this period are quite small. 1819 is another such year, as no Half Cents, Half Dimes, Dimes or Dollar coins were struck. For the copper and silver portion, only the Cent, Quarter and Half Dollar were coined, and all are common dates for their respective series. This three-piece set can be completed with relatively little expense or effort. The only gold coin struck this year was the Half Eagle, and it's a rare date among a very rare type. PCGS has certified only eight coins in 30 years, and despite an original mintage of 51,723 pieces, only about two dozen remain. Prices today range from the mid five figures for circulated examples into the mid six figures for the finest known.
Notes: This set has bonuses. Please see the Set Composition for a listing.
