The Copper and Silver Mint Set for 1827 is another very small one, consisting of only three coins; a Cent, a Dime and a Half Dollar. No Half Cents were made this near, and Quarters were struck only in Proof. All these are common dates, so if you're looking for a relatively easy set to complete, here's one to consider. Of course, when the gold is included, you encounter the impossibly rare issues of the 1820s and early 1830s, nearly all of which were exported and melted shortly after their manufacture. While the Quarter Eagle mintage is lower (2,800) than the Half Eagle (24,900), that matters little since today it is the survivors that count, and on that score the Half Eagle is rarer. Regardless, almost any example will cost high five to low six figures.
