1833 Mint Set with Gold
Like the 1832 set, the six piece 1833 set is typical for the period, and contains no coins of particular rarity. Most are of a similar Capped Bust Left head style, which had been increasingly employed since 1807. The two gold coins, the Quarter and Half Eagle, are of the Capped Bust design with the old weight standard, and fell victim to widespread export and melting. As a consequence, fewer than 100 pieces of each are estimated to have survived, making their acquisition even in lower (VF) grade a costly proposition.
Notes: This set has bonuses. Please see the Set Composition for a listing.
