About This Set: in the year 1900: Ford Motor company is formed, Boxer Rebellion, Galveston Hurricane, Planck discovers quantum physics, and the 'Gold Standard Act' is passed, establishing gold as the only standard for redeeming paper money. Under this act, silver can no longer be used for this purpose. The value of the dollar was fixed at 23.22 grains of pure gold with a value of $20.67 per troy ounce. The gold standard remained in place until April, 1933.
