1932 would prove to be the last real year of gold coinage, as the following year's issues were either recalled, or mostly melted at the mint. While the 1932 Eagle is a common date, the Double Eagle is quite rare, despite it's healthy mintage. Like most double eagles after 1928, most were melted.
