The 1939 Mint Set with major varieties include both reverses of the 1939 P, D & S nickels - the 1938 style, with softer steps, and the 1940 reverse, with more sharply defined steps on Monticello. The 1939-P nickel is also found with doubled "Monticello" and "Five Cents" on the reverse, and is by no means inexpensive in higher grades.
