In 1968, the mintmark was returned to U.S. coins, and for the first time since 1955, the "S" mintmark appeared. As no nickels or halves were struck in Philadelphia, the makeup of the set was a bit odd. It contained three cents from the major mints, nickels from Denver and San Francisco, dimes and quarters from Philadelphia and Denver, and a 1968-D half dollar, still struck in 40% silver.
