The 1979 Mint Set marked the transition from the Eisenhower to the Susan B. Anthony Dollar, with all three mints producing circulation strikes this year. Two varieties of the 1979-P dollar appeared, one with a narrow rim and the other with a broad rim, the latter being the scarcer one. Unfortunately, like the Ike dollar, the SBA also failed to catch on as a circulating coin with the American public due to its proximity in size to the quarter.
