1936-Present Proof Set with Major Varieties

To the advanced numismatist, the "modern" Proof set era really began in 1936 when, after a twenty year hiatus, the mint again began producing proof coins for collectors. This massive 691-piece set covers the entire panorama of United States Proof Coinage for the past 80 years, and encompasses the memories of nearly everyone alive today. From Buffalo Nickels, Mercury Dimes and Walkers, to the "American the Beautiful" and Native American & Presidential Dollars, this set has them all! While in the "regular" proof issues, the prewar coins are the keys, when the varieties are added, two of the tough No "S" dimes jump to the top of the list; the very rare 1968 and the virtually impossible 1975! Because only two of the latter coin are known, achieving 100% completion for this set is not a realistic goal. However, one intrepid Registry participant has achieved 99.42% completion, and nearly every coin in the set for the past 30 years is a "top pop" with none finer.
