The first "modern" Proof set began in 1950, and only around 51,000 were sold that first year. Only a very few of the pieces displayed heavy deep cameo frosting, and values today for the top grade Quarters and Halves are well over $10,000. To date, PCGS has graded only eight 1950 Proof Halves with the DC designation.
