About This Set:
Certainly an impossible set to complete, as no one ever has managed that feat in American history. The founding of the mint was a pivotal moment in our early Republic. Led by a famed astronomer, David Rittenhouse, the early rapidly expanded. One of the first innovative attempts was the development of the incredible silver centered cent, a mark of American ingenuity, although found to be impractical. The Wright Quarter in white metal is my personal favorite so far of this small collection. Unfortunately, this inspirational artisan died in the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia shortly after his lovely quarter design was submitted for review. Thirteen different Judd varieties are actually composed of six key designs, the small cent (Judd 1 and 2, the Large Birch Cent (Judd-3,4,5 and 6), half dimse (Judd-7), disme (Judd-9,10,11) and the Wright quarter (Judd-12 and 13). The design set is a much more achievable goal. I doubt this collection will be able to ever supersede the amazing Garret Collection.
