1859 1C AU58 PCGS #2052

Crossed from NGC58

1863 1C MS64 PCGS #2067

Pronounced retained cud on reverse. Recognized on Cuds On Coins as variety PC-1C-1863-16R as a pre-cud

1943-S 1C MS66 PCGS #2717

It was difficult to find something unique about these steel cents . I think this one checks the mark!

1866 3CN MS63 PCGS #3732

Violet centers merging to blue then gold much more pronounced than the Heritage image let’s on. Substantial die clashing on obverse, with additional clashing on reverse. A nice Truview candidate in the future.

1882 5C MS63 PCGS #3812

Stunning cartwheel and color.

1883 5C No CENTS MS65 PCGS #3841

Fittingly, this was the first piece acquired for this set back in 2011. OGH, proof like IMO, and full of character.

1883 5C No CENTS MS65 PCGS #3841

1911 5C MS63 PCGS #3872

Purchased pcgs58, and stayed as an album coin for years. Got a nice bump to 63 next time to grading shop. Super vibrant colors in good light with surfaces I’ll say boarder on PL.

1913 5C Type 1 MS66 PCGS #3915

The piece really is all that. Luster is out of this world and bands of rose, blue and gold are all there. This is the type of piece that takes your set to the next level

1913 5C Type 2 MS64 PCGS #3921

Purchased DGS62. Super nice strike and color.

1913-S 5C Type 2 MS64 PCGS #3923

Purchased NGC63

1915 5C MS64 PCGS #3927

Purchased the day my mom died

1916 5C MS63 PCGS #3930

Obverse color is off the charts. This replaces a 65 I had in this slot previously. As a fellow collector said "how can this be seven points from perfection"

1916-D 5C MS64 PCGS #3932

Absolutely booming luster, thought it, along with great color and eye appeal and well above average strike, might be enough to push it to 65. Alas, there is the spot above the buff and a hit not readily evident in image that held it back. Just a stunning piece for the grade - luster looks 66 all day

1916-S 5C MS63 PCGS #3933

Rich gold tone throughout with some darker purples prevalent in central areas. Heavy clashes on obverse, under feathers, under chin and by LIBERTY, and under EPU on reverse.

1917 5C MS64 PCGS #3934

Awesome obverse color, lucked out with crummy auction photos. Crossed from NCG and previously stickered by CAC

1917-D 5C AU58 PCGS #3935

Truview doesn't capture this is hands down full strike. Was hoping for a + or a 62

1918-D 5C AU58 PCGS #3938

Had to pay up 63 money for this beauty.

1918-D 5C AU58 PCGS #3938

Had to pay up 63 money for this beauty.

1918-S 5C AU58 PCGS #3940

Awesome strike and die state that did not come cheap, this appears to still be the highest priced auction price for NGC piece. Crossed in 2015

1919 5C MS62 PCGS #3941

Purchased NGC 58

1919 5C MS62 PCGS #3941

1923 5C MS63 PCGS #3949

Long considered to the most undergraded pieces in my set. Still think this one could go 65 today

1924 5C MS63 PCGS #3951

A long time piece of the set, the only time I've considered upgrading is when the Angel Dee's set went for auction at Legends. It was the one piece in that auction I could afford and was a beast to boot. I recall being outbid pretty early on. The piece at hand was acquired when my primary interest was strike, but also has some wonderful color highlights as shown.

The great strike is apparent from the image. The attractive bluish/rose toing, less so. Not sure it has the blast to go 64, but one heck of a nice coin for the grade. Never given any thought to trying to upgrade this one. Remember the buy well, one of first pieces I saw at Annandale show that day, and was an easy decision to spend the entire budget after minutes at the show.

Great die state and strike!!

1925-D 5C AU58+ PCGS #3955

Once you get past the color, check out the double or tripling on the obverse profile. Kinda neat to have a POP 1 coin as of 2015

1926-D 5C AU55 PCGS #3958

Awesome strike and die state rarely seen on this issue. Originally purchased PCGS58, made raw for an album, and resubmitted a decade later, it came back 55 this time around. A great piece regardless of current numeric grade.

1926-S 5C XF45 PCGS #3959

Nice die state and strike on this one, and I thought the luster (not fully captured in Truview) might get it to AU. Not meant to be, as there is XF type wear and hits on the piece. Still, probably the best I will be able to manage for the foreseeable future

1927 5C MS63 PCGS #3960

Purchased raw. Just awesome color.

1928 5C MS65+ PCGS #3963

Struck from older dies, what this one lacks in strike more than makes up in overall eye appeal. Luster you expect for the 65+ grade. Super attractive color progression of gold on periphery to powder blue, to Amber in the centers.

1928 5C MS65+ PCGS #3963

1928-D 5C MS65 PCGS #3964

Stunning luster with an out of this world strike for the date

1928-D 5C MS65 PCGS #3964

Stunning luster with an out of this world strike for the date

1928-S 5C MS63 PCGS #3965

Full strike any way you cut it. Was hoping for the two feather designation but no luck.

1928-S 5C MS64 PCGS #3965

Extremely attractive example, with almost proof like surfaces, as the date is sometimes known for. Brilliant, piece, with some bright golden highlights along the periphery and some purpleish undertones on the devices. Deeply struck and better than average for the day. No distracting marks of note, a candidate for reconsideration in the future.

1935-S 5C MS66 PCGS #3976

1936-D 5C MS66 PCGS #3978

Never have I seen a 36-D as crisply and sharply struck. A true Beast

Never have I seen a 36-D as crisply and sharply struck. A true Beast

1936-S 5C MS67 PCGS #3979

Purchased NGC65 with original intent to put into capital plastics short set

1937-S 5C MS66 PCGS #3983

Purchased raw for $5. Originally saw it as a flip, but once in hand it became a keeper

1938-D 5C Buffalo MS67 PCGS #3984

My first 67, had never been a proponent of paying next grade for minute difference, but on this one it is clear what you are paying for.

1946 5C MS66+ PCGS #4028

Really stunning contrasts of violet, aqua blue to sunset orange. Booming luster one would expect for a 66+

1851 H10C MS64 PCGS #4347

Purchased NGC64, crossed at grade

1854 H10C AU55 PCGS #4358

Offered up top dollar for this stunning toner

1841 10C AU55 PCGS #4579

Purchased ANACS 58 back when there was such a thing as the Dulles Coin Show. Very pleasing Auburn toning around the perhiphey

1854 10C AU55 PCGS #4605

Purchased raw at the spring 2010 Baltimore show. Resided in my 7070 until 2022 as I transition the album coins to registry format.

1892 10C AU58 PCGS #4796

Purchased ICG58 and continues a good streak of getting ICG coins to cross or regrade at same grade as purchased.

1853 25C Arrows and Rays AU58 PCGS #5426

Purchased NGC58 back in 2009. Resided in my 7070 for a number of years, PCGS also saw it as a 58. Rare color for the series. A real WOW coin.

1898 25C MS62 PCGS #5619

Purchased as a PCGS61 back in the days when I was attending the Annandale Coin Show.

1919 25C MS65 PCGS #5728

Purchased as CACG 64 to round out SLQ date set

1919 25C MS65 PCGS #5728

Purchased as CACG 64 to round out SLQ date set

1920 25C AU58 PCGS #5734

A raw purchase from eBay that worked out well. It was part of a full SLQ album set, but a bit too nice for a set that at the time as XF/au. Had it graded when I found a piece that was a better fit for album set

1924 25C AU58FH PCGS #5747

Purchased ANACS58 FH in 2008, it resided in my 7070 until I decided to go registry with 7070 around 2020. It was also a motivator to start my SLQ year set and is a benchmark of the look I am trying to assemble.

1927-D 25C MS63 PCGS #5762

Great eye appeal. Golden toned obverse with some additional color on the rims. Reverse is mostly white with insane luster and cartwheel with the slightest golden tint along the periphery. Essentially mark free surfaces with exception of what appears to be a die crack on liberty’s head.

1928 25C MS62 PCGS #5766

Purchased NGC62 and crossed at grade.

1839 50C Drapery XF40 PCGS #6232

Beautiful burnt orange to rust toning looks nicer than assigned grade

1976-S 50C Silver MS67 PCGS #6728

Really pretty arch of color and otherwise everything I would hope for at assigned grade.

1865 2C Plain 5 MS64RB PCGS #38248

purchased NGC64, resided in 7070 album for a number of years before being graded by PCGS. Obverse has much richer and even orange coloration than Truview shows

1913-D 5C T-1, 2 Feathers, FS-401 MS65+ PCGS #38429

Cherry picked out of Heritage Auction as a straight 65, got the attribution and the +.

1915 5C 2 Feathers, FS-401 AU55 PCGS #38433

Purchased raw from eBay, seller made it a BIN for $75, which worked for me

1918 5C 2 Feathers, FS-401 MS64+ PCGS #38445

Cherrypicked from a Heritage auction. At least one other bidder chased this up 3X non variety price, but still a huge upside and a POP 1 as of June 2024. The TV was taken in during a period where PCGS seems to have been having issues with their images. In this instance, the coin does have an overall goldish tint, but the contrasting coloration on the highpoints is more of a violet, which doesn't really pickup in TV. The coin also has a much more vibrant luster that pictured.

1921 5C 2 Feathers, FS-401 MS65 PCGS #38451

Cherry Picked out of a Stacks auction as a 64, got the attribution and a bump to 65

1921-S 5C 2 Feathers, FS-401 AU55 PCGS #38452

Cherry Picked out of Teletrade auction, grade stayed the same on regarde, but a big time piece nonetheless

1925-S 5C 2 Feathers, FS-401 AU55 PCGS #38455

An awesome strike and a great die state. Wonderful Amber to orange hues in the fields. Heavy polishing on the neck is well. Truly a unique piece I am happy to own

1938-D/D 5C Buffalo MS66 PCGS #93984

1876 25C RPD FS-304 AU58 PCGS #147857

Unattributed RPD FS-304

1916 5C 2 Feathers, FS-402 MS63 PCGS #395248

Purchased unattributed in an NGC holder as a 64, PCGS saw it as a 63 when I sent as a cross over with a minimum grade of 63. Truth be told I thought 63 was the accurate grade as the luster is a bit toned over, and in the end would done just as well financially to have just found one already graded, as the piece had competition in auction from at least one other bidder who knew that it was. But we all know these don't come around everyday, and there is the thrill of the hunt. The coin is well struck, amazingly mark free for grade and are the factors that most likely lead NGC to give it a 64.

1876 50C MPD FS-303 (FS-007.3) AU53 PCGS #408485

Purchased at a Baltimore Coin Show as an ANACS50, PCGS saw it as slightly better. It was only after I posted the image on the CU boards that a fellow board member alerted me to the MPD variety. Was able to have it attributed in same trip to grading shop.

1919 5C 2 Feathers MS63 PCGS #520163

1913-S 5C T-1, 2 Feathers, FS-401 MS63 PCGS #569431

Purchased in unattributed but at price point about half way to attributed piece

1928-S 5C 2 Feathers, FS-401 AU55 PCGS #569441

Very long trip to get this point. Originally purchased NGC63 back in the Teletrade days and made an album coin, it went PCGS63 when I moved the raw set to registry. After realizing it would attributed as two feather it made several trips to get attribution, never getting attribution but always straight grade as a 63. The 2nd last time to PCGS I sent a bunch of reference materials to show it was the proper die state, and PCGS attributed it but bagged it as cleaned. I sent the coin to CACG where it straight graded with attribution but as a 55. In the end I really wanted a PCGS attribution for my two feather set, so I sent the CACG graded coin for a cross. I have finally, at great cost of money, time, and frustration, achieved my goal of getting this coin into an attributed holder.
