CAC Legend says: This lovely AU is among the finest known for this RARE and popular issue. While considered to be Rarity-5 by experts, there are not enough to satisfy demand, and anytime one appears at auction, regardless of condition, the collectors flock to it. This one has a pleasing silver-dove tone overall with accents of tan and gold. Much frost clings to the surfaces, giving it a pearly look. There are some minor friction lines, and perhaps a hairline or two, none that are distracting. The strike is decent for the variety, which is often softly impressed on the eagle’s wing. HA says: . Ex: Link. An unchallenged "demand rarity" of the early Capped Bust series -- and a star of the entire Lettered Edge half dollar series. The Bearded Goddess ranks high on the wantlists of innumerable Bust half and die anomaly enthusiasts. The 1807 O-111 variety is remarkable in many ways, not the least of which is its rarity in both the very early and very late die stages. The early die state is undoubtedly rarer, but the late-state Bearded Goddess wins the popularity contest hands down. Less notable but equally important, the denomination is blundered on the reverse, ostensibly a 5 over a mispunched 2, yet the real drawing card of this About Uncirculated coin is the long die crack that runs, Rasputin-like, between the chin and chest. Here, it is equally strong from the headband all the way toward the bottom rim, ending left of 1 in the date. A parallel crack curves through the left-hand stars. Mint luster remains in protected areas on both sides of this smoothly worn, silver-gray example, where it gleams at the margins and among the crevices of the central motifs. The devices are well-struck for the variety, visibly so on the wing with only occasional high point incompleteness elsewhere. Rare this nice, among the top half-dozen or so Bearded Goddess examples in the advanced die stage.

CAC & Rattler, ex. Hamilton/Graves Heritage says: The misplaced letters UNI are prominently visible between 50 and C at the lower reverse of this Choice AU half dollar. This important variety enjoys a separate listing in the Guide Book. Both sides exhibit faint hairlines that undoubtedly prevent a higher grade. The obverse has pastel gold, blue, and iridescent toning. The reverse has light gold toning at the center, within a blue peripheral frame.
GOLD CAC Heritage says: The highly sought Gold CAC label indicates this sharp and original Overton-103 example is deserving of an even finer grade. This Choice coin is struck from a heavily clashed die state, with the peripheral elements drawn to the edges, extensive die wear, and a heavy die line from the scroll to the left (facing) wing. Forest-green and bluish-gray toning yields to golden luster at the borders that adds extra eye appeal to this ultimate, collector-grade O-103.

This Choice coin is struck from a heavily clashed die state, with the peripheral elements drawn to the edges, extensive die wear, and a heavy die line from the scroll to the left (facing) wing. Forest-green and bluish-gray toning yields to golden luster at the borders that adds extra eye appeal to this ultimate, collector-grade O-103.
Impressive peach, purple, and green toning dominates both sides. Minimally abraded and attractive. The curls and claws show minor wear. A late, clashed die stage with peripheral elements drawn toward the rims.

The design elements are nicely defined by a crisp, exacting strike and there is only a touch of light wear on the surfaces. Inspection with a strong glass reveals some light, long toned over marks which have a minimal overall impact on the outstanding eye appeal.

Paradime says: Wildly toned Reeded Edge Capped Bust Half Dollar, 1837 50c is one of the only readily available dates for the 50 Cents Reverse and type without doubling or tripping the budget. With a stunning design, this coin shows eye popping peripheral hues. With deeper red centers that transitions to purple, ocean-blue, sky-blue, yellow and others, this is a great coin to have in a collection. Seldom do we find this date and type with collectors in circulated condition, save for a comparable AU55 PCGS CAC that sold for $1,920 04/22 ST. The present example colors and toning far exceeds the that of the CAC, though the originality of that example is superior. In hand this coin is absolutely pops. Wildly toned Capped Bust half have gained tremendous popularity and this will draw huge numbers of interest.

Previously CACG50 HA says: The mintmark is clearly repunched south, and a bold die crack spans the lower right obverse border. These are characteristics of GR-1, the usually encountered New Orleans Bust half dollar die variety. This is an exemplary example with lovely apple-green, golden-brown, and cream-gray peripheral toning. Much luster remains, and no marks are of any notice. CRO says: About the prettiest 39-O Half we’ve ever seen, and we’ve looked for these in earnest for a long, long (long) time. With lovely sky blue, sea green, rose and golden toning, lustrous surfaces and looking more like Choice AU to this author, though we are pleased to offer it in this conservatively graded CACG slab.
