About This Set: Born 10 July Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon; married Harriet Emma Hymas (1875-1980) 12 September 1892 Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon; died 17 May Cottage Grove, Lane, Oregon.

The Mint Set for 1871 is defined by four very rare coins. To no one's surprise, they all bear the small letters "CC" on the reverse. In its second year of operation, the Carson City Mint produced only a tiny fraction of the output of the larger mints in Philadelphia and San Francisco, and nearly all the coins went into circulation. Fewer than half a dozen Mint State examples of each exist, and even circulated pieces are few and far between. The Dime, Quarter and Dollar are mid-four figure coins, even in Good-6!
