About Me

About Me:
Interest in early date mercury dimes (teens and twenties). Liberty was modeled after Elsie Stevens (wife to poet Wallace Stevens), who lived in Adolph A. Weinman's NYC apartment building. Incidentally, my grandmother's name was Elsie and she had lived in NYC when mercury dimes circulated; she helped me build my first coin collection as a kid. A winged Phrygian cap sits atop her head, representing freedom of thought, or freethinking! E Pluribus Unum!
