Stack's Bowers Auction The November 2011 Baltimore Auction Nov-2011 1799 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. B-11, BB-161. Rarity-3. BB Die State III. MS-63 (NGC). Satiny lilac-gray surfaces exhibit lively luster and a wealth of attractive neon blue and deep rose iridescence. The strike is sharp and appealing, with even the eagle's tiny breast feathers fully evident. Diagnostic reverse die crack from the rim at 10 o'clock grazes the outer curve of the D then crosses the feathers and runs along the top of the ribbon, terminating at the star that touches the eagle's beak. The finest of the variety certified by NGC. Choice for the grade, a coin that holds up admirably to close inspection, and one that would be at home in any advanced early dollar cabinet of U.S. type coin collection.
