The last date struck for circulation, and with the lowest mintage in the series, the 1872 is a KEY, especially in Mint State grades. Only 65,000 were struck. The present coin has no wear anywhere. Accents of original red peek through a layer of violet "woodgrain" toning. Some light contact is noted, but the eye appeal is generally quite pleasing for the grade. PCGS 0, NGC 2.
