Stack's Bowers Auction August 2019 ANA U.S. Coins Auction Rosemont, IL Aug-2019 Condition Census 1905 Barber Quarter 1905 Barber Quarter. MS-67 (PCGS). Phenomenal Superb Gem quality for this underrated Philadelphia Mint issue in the circulation strike Barber quarter series. Intensely lustrous surfaces are frosty in finish with a sharp to full strike throughout. Brilliant in the centers, wisps of iridescent powder blue and reddish-apricot decorate the peripheries and further enhance already strong eye appeal. Despite a relatively generous mintage of 4,967,523 coins, the 1905 is among the more elusive Philadelphia Mint quarters of its era even in lower circulated grades. Mint State survivors are scarce in an absolute sense and exceedingly rare above the MS-66 level. The present example is among the finest known to PCGS, in fact, and its offering in this sale represents a fleeting bidding opportunity for the astute collector of Barber coinage. PCGS Population: just 3; with a single MS-68 finer. PCGS# 5639. NGC ID: 23Z2. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
