Our multiple offers in this sale notwithstanding, the 1908-S is a scarce, low mintage Indian half eagle issue that enjoys strong demand among advanced 20th century gold enthusiasts. The present lot highlights a lovely golden-apricot example with subtle pale pink overtones. Smooth and satiny with full mint luster and a sharply executed strike. If the Superb Gem in the preceding lot is beyond one's reach, this solidly graded and aesthetically pleasing near-Gem is an equally desirable alternative that would serve as a highlight in any cabinet.
