Obverse: Upright of 4 in date not quite centered under curl; upper left star points to center of upper curl; lower left star most distant from bust, but only about half as far away as in [Browning[ 1 and 2, the same die; upper right star close to cap with lower right somewhat further from hair.

Reverse: The value, 25 C., high near eagle, with 2 and 5 further apart than in either [Browning] 1, or [Browning] 2; period after C. The eagle has no tongue.

Obverse die perfect. Reverse cracked at top, connecting S, T and A in STATES, extending through field over eagle, just touching the wing at right and connecting R, I and C in AMERICA.

A scarce variety.

Rarity-3.

Easily found in grades through EF, but very rare in Mint State.

Obverse: The same as [Browning] 3.

Reverse: In legend word OF is too near STATES. The value, 25 C., nearer eagle than border; 5 and C are far apart, further than in any other variety; period after C. The eagle has no tongue.

Obverse die perfect. Reverse cracked in three places; at top, from D in UNITED to F in OF, connecting all letters in STATES except A; from top edge at right of F in OF, through bottom of A in AMERICA to top of eagle's wing at right, reappearing at bottom of wing and extending across, connecting the two lower olive leaves, lower left edge; from lower left edge across, connecting the two lower olive leaves, lower end of upper arrow over 2, and end of olive branch, end at point where eagle's middle claw at tight grasps lower arrow.

This is one of the most common varieties.

Die States: I: Perfect reverse. Extremely rare. Eliasberg's Proof; Bergen:124 and one other business strike.
II. Reverse cracked in three places; at top, from D in UNITED to F in OF, connecting all letters in STATES except A; from top edge at right of F in OF, through bottom of A in AMERICA to top of eagle's wing at right, reappearing at bottom of wing and extending across arrows to lower edge; from lower left edge across, connecting the two lower olive leaves, lower end of upper arrow over 2, and end of olive branch, ending at point where eagle's middle claw at right grasps lower arrow. Cracks vary from faint to heavy.
III. Clash marks from shield near neck and ear.
IV. Clash marks heavier; crack from right rim through upper part of cap into field pointing above seventh star. LM 6/68/287.

Eliasberg's Proof is still unique.

Though the variety is common in all grades through the EF, it is very rare in full Mint State.
