Young Numismatists: Free

Join us at booth #404 for your chance to test your grading skills on 20 holdered vintage and modern coins in a range of grades. Young Numismatists will also have an opportunity to compete with a set of 10 coins.

Each contestant will have only 20 minutes to grade the set of coins. Answers will be written down and turned in. Winners will be announced at the end of the expo on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

Rules:

1. Only one entry allowed per person.
2. You must be an active PCGS Collectors Club member or PCGS Authorized Dealer member to participate.
3. There are 20 coins to grade. Contestants will use a numbered grading contest form and write-in your grade for each coin. There are no counterfeit, “no grade” or doctored coins. There are also no “plus” grades. All are whole-number graded coins. Some may have designations (FH, FB, PL etc.) If the coin is a proof, indicate that with the PR-prefix to the numerical grade.
4. You will have a maximum of 20 minutes to examine the 20 coins and enter your grades. The contest closes on Saturday, 6/8/19, at 4:00 p.m. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.
5. The winner will be determined by the PCGS judges who will compare the participant’s grade with the grade assigned by PCGS. PCGS is the sole determiner of the winner of the contest. No employee of PCGS or Collectors Universe is eligible.
6. The contest is held at Booth 404 at the Long Beach Expo. If you are a winner, your prize will be mailed to you. A completed W9 is required for all prizes prior to the prize being awarded.
7. In the event of a tie, we will then rescore the tied highest scores and award bonus points for any grade that is within a half a point of the exact PCGS grade. If there is still a tie, we will then rescore the tied highest scores and deduct points for any grade more than one point off the PCGS grade. If the scores remain tied, the first-place winners will each receive $500 grading credit.

Young Numismatist Rules:
