ABOUT THE CONTEST

Want to try your hand at grading coins like the experts at PCGS? We’re inviting young numismatists as well as veteran collectors and dealers alike to participate in the PCGS Coin Grading Contest at the 2025 American Numismatic Association World’s Fair of Money in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma! Participants will have the opportunity to test their grading skills by evaluating a wide variety of coins.

Collectors and dealers will compete to review 20 coins in 15 minutes. Show everyone what you know and have the chance to win prizes, including PCGS Grading Credit and Collectors Club Memberships! Prizes will be awarded to both age groups as shown below.

Young Collectors:
(Ages 20 and Under)
  • 1st Place: 1 Year Platinum Collectors Club Membership, 1st place Sample Slab

  • 2nd Place: 1 Year Gold Collectors Club Membership, 2nd place Sample Slab

  • 3rd Place: 1 Year Silver Collectors Club Membership, 3rd place Sample Slab

  • All Participants: Sample Slab

Adults:
(Ages 21 and over)
  • 1st Place: $500 PCGS Grading Credit, 1st place Sample Slab

  • 2nd Place: $250 PCGS Grading Credit, 2nd place Sample Slab

  • 3rd Place: $100 PCGS Grading Credit, 3rd place Sample Slab

  • All Participants: Sample Slab

Registration:
  1. To register for the PCGS Grading Contest, participants must contact us with a completed sign-up sheet.
  2. Emails will be responded to on a first-come, first-served basis until all 75 time slots are filled.
  3. Once all the slots are filled, a waitlist will start. If participants drop out, those on the waitlist will be offered the time slot.
  4. Pre-registration will close on August 13th. After this date, you can sign up at the PCGS booth during the show but will not be guaranteed a spot.
Participation:
  1. Participants should arrive at the PCGS table a few minutes before their start time to get checked in.
  2. There are 20 coins to grade.
  3. Contestants will have a maximum of 15 minutes to examine the 20 coins and enter grades.
  4. If you are late to arrive for your timeslot, that will cut into your grading time. No extra time will be given.
  5. All participants will receive a Sample Slab from PCGS.
Scoring:
  1. Correct Grade (Prefix and Numerical): 2 Points
  2. Correct Numerical Grade, Incorrect Prefix: 1 Point
  3. Correct Prefix, Incorrect Numerical Grade: 1 Point
  4. No Grade Identified with Correct Reason: 2 Points
  5. No Grade Identified with Incorrect Reason: 1 Point
  6. Correct Suffix: .5
