5-Ounce America the Beautiful Quarter - Difficult to Buy

The first 5-ounce America the Beautiful Quarters have been extremely difficult to purchase directly from the U.S. Mint Authorized Bullion Purchasers.

So far, only a few of the Authorized Bullion Purchasers have offered the coins and usually by the time they start selling the coins, only some collectors submit their orders on time to secure a set.

Each set of the 5-ounce America the Beautiful Quarters is selling for about $900 to $925 directly from the Mint Authorized Purchasers, while the same sets are currently selling for over $2,000 in the aftermarket.

So it is no surprise that there are many collectors and speculators who want a set, especially if they can flip their set for a profit of $1,000 or more. However, every time an Authorized Dealer sells a set, most collectors aren't aware that the sets are available or for some reason, they can't buy the coins. Either because they can't travel to a different state on a specific day to buy the coins in person or because they can't get their payment sent in through the mail quickly enough.

It is too soon to know whether the coins will still be in high demand once all the Mint Authorized Bullion Dealers sell all the coins. I believe that if most of the individuals who bought the sets bought them in hopes of flipping them for a profit, prices may actually come down for the coins. However, if most of the individuals who purchased the coins bought them to keep for the long run, prices may actually remain strong. Only time will tell.
