PCGS has announced that coin enthusiasts who join the PCGS Collectors Club at the next Long Beach Coin and Collectibles Expo, to be held February 10 - 13, will receive one free "walk-through" coin grading.
New club members normally receive four free mail-in gradings when they join; turnaround time for mail-in gradings is approximately two weeks. A "walk-through" grading is completed in one day, while the collector enjoys the coin show. The usual charge is $100, but new members who join at the show can opt for the free walk-through instead of the four mail-ins, saving both time and money.
PCGS recently graded its first two 1944 steel cents and will display pictures of these rarities. Almost as well-known as the 1943 copper cent, they are considered error coins because they were struck on a few steel planchets left over after the 1943 run, which used the base metal in order to preserve copper for the war effort.
Also at the show, Collectors Universe will present a "Stump the Experts" contest on Saturday, February 12 at 10 a.m. This is your chance to challenge experts on U.S., world and ancient coins with your toughest questions. (Please, no currency questions.) Those who successfully Stump The Experts will receive one free PCGS economy coin grading. Kids are welcome to participate, too, so start researching those obscure coins, names and events now!
Kingswood Coin Auctions will be at the show, too, offering the chance to view lots for their next auction which will be held February 16 - 17, 2000.
The Long Beach Coin and Collectibles Expo is one of the world's largest shows of its kind, an international event bringing together more than 10,000 dealers and collectors three times a year at the Long Beach [California] Convention Center. Those who attend the February show will have a chance to see the West Coast debut of the brand-new Year 2000 British Sovereigns and half-sovereigns. Collectors Universe is the exclusive distributor for the first 10,000 of the beautiful coins, so interested collectors have a chance to score a real coup. Just think: you can be the very first one in your coin club to have one of these internationally-acclaimed coins!
Speaking of coin clubs, if you plan on attending the show, be sure to bring your club membership card along - it'll get you free admission at the door.
As always, the Long Beach show is sure to be exciting, fun, informative and well worth the time. Don't miss out on one of the biggest events of the numismatic year!
