Qualifying Round One of the 2nd Annual World Series Complete

The first qualifying round of the 2nd Annual PCGS World Series of Coin Grading was held January 13th through the 16th at the FUN show in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. There were 12 participating dealers in the "Professional" division, and 5 collectors who participated in the "Collector" division. The winners were as follows.

Professional Division
1st place - Greg Reff 81 (out of a possible 100)
2nd place - Matt Kleinstauber 75.5

Collector Division
1st place - Tony Swicer 70.5
2nd place - Ralph J. Dimmick 63

Additional qualifying rounds will be conducted at the Long Beach Expos in February and June, as well as the Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention in March, with the final round at the American Numismatic Association World's Fair of Money^® Convention in San Francisco, California in July.

The next round of the PCGS World Series of Rare Coin Grading will be at the Long Beach Show, February 24th through the 26th. Call PCGS customer service to reserve your spot in the contest.

Here are the coins that were used in Round One, along with the grades of top professional scorers Greg Reff, Matt Kleinstauber, and the top collector scorer, Tony Swicer. Note that the first and second place winners are automatically qualified for the finals to be held this summer at the American Numismatic Association convention in San Francisco, while the next highest scorers may also qualify as "wild card" finalists.
