Free Grading Courses Added to PCGS.com

Grading 101: Learn about eye appeal and its influence on grading.

Professional Coin Grading Service (www.PCGS.com) has released a dedicated webpage for its educational Coin Grading 101, 102 and 103 video series.

The webcast series, found at www.PCGS.com/education, is aimed at enlightening those new to coin collecting and grading, while providing useful information to avid graders, as well. These classes explore a breadth of numismatic topics, such as how to grade proof coins, PCGS standards with "no grade" coins, and grading "ultra-modern" coins.

Conducted by PCGS Director of Education, Michael Sherman, the webcast series presents numismatic information in a fun, interactive way, adding a new dimension to the typically text-based field of numismatics.

Sherman hopes this new medium, complete with high-resolution graphics, will open up coin grading to more people.

"This is a concise and informative series on the most important aspects of coin grading, and should pique the interest of both beginner as well as more advanced numismatists. We're very excited to be able to share these videos with everyone,"said Sherman.

The Coin Grading series began in mid-2015 with Coin Grading 101: Introduction to Coin Grading. Before the dedicated webpage launched, individual videos of the series were only available on YouTube, with additional posts available on Facebook and Twitter. The goal of this page is to serve as a hub for instructional numismatic videos.

The page will eventually contain 24 videos. Twenty are available now and a final four-part series on counterfeit detection is to be added in the summer months.

All of the videos are free to view, and the first three videos of the series are immediately available for viewing. After finishing the initial three videos, viewers can unlock the remaining webcasts by creating a free PCGS.com account.

"We want to share coin grading information in an effort to spread interest in the hobby," stated PCGS President Don Willis. "This new page, which is also mobile-friendly, should prove to be a useful resource for collectors."
