PCGS is happy to announce the expansion of its Collectors Education Program into the digital realm. In addition to our in-person courses (held three times a year at each Long Beach Expo), we will now offer online webinars that preview these coin grading courses. These online courses will not be as in-depth as the live Collectors Education Program, but will cover the basics of Coin Grading 101, 102 and 103.
Coin Grading 101 – Introduction to Grading / September 20, 2013
Coin Grading 102 – Qualifiers, Proof Coins, Modern Coins and Difficult-to-Grade Coins / October 10, 2013
Coin Grading 103 – No Grades & Counterfeit Detection / November 11, 2013
What is a webinar and why should you attend? A webinar is a seminar held on the web. Sometimes known as webcasts, these are live, online broadcasts that feature a presentation and a presenter. We're lucky to have PCGS's Director of Education, Mike Sherman, present these courses for us. He's a veteran numismatist and an excellent presenter who keeps a good pace and adds interesting details as the presentation evolves.
These course will each run about an hour, including a portion for Questions & Answers. And while the course material is basic at times, it still provides an excellent opportunity to drill into some concepts through the Q&A with Mike.
As you'll note by the schedule above, we've already had our first installment. One of the major benefits of a webinar is the fact that it can be recorded and viewed at a later date. Going to miss a course? No problem – we will post a recording of the webinar on our YouTube page (subscribe here to get alerts when new videos are added).
As noted, the major benefit of attending in person is the ability to ask questions directly to the presenter. We had a number of active participants on our September 20th webinar and overall it was a big success. Check out some of the feedback we received:
"VERY interesting, brief course. Loved the Morgan overviews. THANK YOU." – Craig C.
"Awesome presentation! Thanks!!" – Martin L.
"Kudos to PCGS for offering expert information free of charge to the average collector." Kf4mvr (YouTube)
"Great Educating Tool. As with everything Knowledge is power. PCGS is an innovator and they continue to be by hosting things such as this webinar." – James T. (YouTube)
As always, we love hearing from you and greatly appreciate your business. We hope these free courses help enrich your collecting experience. Do you have an idea for a course or would you like to offer input? Please email me at [email protected] and we'll evaluate it for consideration.
Thanks again and I hope to see you online on Thursday, October 10th (here's the link again to register)
