The 2016-W Gold Walking Liberty Half Dollars were officially released by the U.S. Mint on November 17, 2016. Each 2016-W Gold Walking Liberty Half Dollar had an issue price of $865, if purchased directly from the U.S. Mint. The Mint imposed a three coin ordering limit per household. PCGS Set Registry Update

The national bird of the United States has been the bald eagle since 1786, and many countries around the world revere eagles as their national birds. In Hinduism, "Garuda" has been known to be Lord Vishnu’s bird for travel. This mythical being in the form of what appears to be half man, half eagle has been a symbol of protection from hatred and ignorance throughout India and Southeast Asia. Indonesia’s coat of arms is the “Garuda Pancasila,” which was adopted on February 11, 1950, and the national airline of Indonesia is named Garuda Airlines.

The first appearance of this national emblem on Indonesian coinage was on the reverse of the 1951 10 sen aluminum coin. The 750 rupiah obverse design above exhibits Garuda, who is a mythical divine-like eagle, known as the “King of Birds.” This specimen exhibits meticulous details that are magnificently toned. The reverse exhibits toning perfection around the dual dating of 1945-1970, which celebrates Indonesia’s 25 years of independence as a country.
