PCGS Set Registry Update

Barbados is an island that quietly sits in the light sapphire waters of the Caribbean Sea and the indigenous peoples of this country are known as the Kalinago. The etymology of the name Barbados in Spanish or Portuguese translates into "the bearded ones". Whether this reference is to persons or nature has been lost throughout time and accounts vary. However, in Roman mythology, Neptune is the god of the seas who lives in a golden palace at the bottom of the ocean. Here he resides with sea life, nymphs, sea gods and goddesses. Neptune carries a trident which symbolizes strength, power, and he is generally sporting a regal beard. It is possible that Neptune originally resided in the waters of these seas of the Caribbean and an explorer during the early 16th century spotted him on the shores of Barbados.

Nevertheless, The Franklin Mint produced a magnificent looking coin with Neptune and his fish friend perched beside him that's part of a set PCGS has listed is part of a set PCGS has listed titled Barbados 10 Dollars Silver, Proof (1973-1981).
