Stack's Bowers Auction The March 2013 Baltimore Auction Feb-2013 1836 Classic Quarter Eagle. Breen-6143. Head of 1835, Script 8. MS-62 (PCGS). Offered is a frosty and lustrous 1836 quarter eagle with lively cartwheel luster and attractive olive highlights. Typical strike for the date with sharp peripheries but with a hint of softness at the centers. Other than some scattered hairlines, no marks of any great measure are to be found. Obverse die crack from rim through star 6, then across Liberty's portrait and out her lowest hair curl, terminating in the space between stars 12 and 13. Choice for the grade with excellent all-around eye appeal.
