Stack's Bowers Auction Spring 2025 Showcase Auction U.S. Coins Apr-2025 A Depression era issue, the 1930 is one of several Buffalo nickel issues that were largely withheld from circulation at the time of delivery and, instead, could be ordered from the Treasury Department beginning in 1932. Many were obtained by contemporary numismatists in that way and subsequently preserved in Mint State, although we caution that with the quality and eye appeal on display here the 1930 is a noteworthy condition rarity. Gorgeous iridescent toning in champagne-apricot, pale pink and powder blue flows over smooth satin surfaces. Sharply struck and expertly preserved, discerning Buffalo nickel enthusiasts would be wise to pursue this offering with vigor.
