Obverse: Date close, 5 about half way under curl; upper left star points to near end of upper curl; lower left the same distance away as in [Browning] 4, with upper right slightly nearer cap, and lower right further away from the hair.

Reverse: The same as No. 4.

Dies perfect in early impressions. In later pieces obverse is cracked and found in three conditions.

First: very slight crack from left edge through lower point of sixth star to forehead just above the eye and extending out in field behind cap part way toward the 10th orthird from upper right star.

First crack heavier and extending entirely across, over head and through 10th star to right edge. A second crack from lower left edge diagonally up to bust over 1 in date.

The second crack extending from bottom of bust over 1 in date up over bust to hair at right of, and above the eye, joining first crack here. A third crack from left edge through upper point of third star up to tip of nose and over face to hair back of eye, joining the first two cracks here.

Repunching within base of C in 25 C.: first S, O and high.

Obverse: 5 in date about half way under curl as in [Browning] 5, but date is wider; upper left star points to near end of upper curl as in [Browning] 5, but the lower left star is nearer bust, with the upper right star nearer cap than in any of the preceding dies. The lower right is also very close to hair, spaced about the same as the upper right.

Reverse: The same as [Browning] 4 and 5.
Eighth star very close to cap.
Repunching within base of C in 25 C; first S, O and R high.
Browning-6; not in Clapp; Duphorne-77; included in Breen-3929; not in Haseltine.
Rarity-4, high. Possibly low Rarity-5.

This marriage was apparently interrupted to strike some B-5's.

Most examples met with have been cherrypicked. Neil:908, Uncirculated is unequalled; Bergen:91 was EF, others auctioned to date are in lower grades.
