2018-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles on Sale

-

The 2018-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles were recently offered by the U.S. Mint to collectors and the public beginning on May 24, 2018. The coins bear the same obverse and reverse design used on all uncirculated and proof Silver Eagles since the inception of the program in 1986. The coins are struck in .999 fine silver and weight one ounce (1 oz). The coin is referred to as the ’Collector Version’ because its 2018 uncirculated counterpart does not bear the "W" mint mark. U.S. Mint selling price is $46.95 for each coin.

Additionally, the 2018-W (with a "W" mint mark) Uncirculated Silver Eagles go through a different minting process which gives the coins a slightly different finish, also known as a burnished finish. The 2018-W Silver Eagles with the burnished finish usually come well struck and are normally certified in high grades. This type of burnished finish was originally introduced in the Silver Eagle series in 2006 and has also been used by the U.S. Mint in other coin denominations over the years. The 2018-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles (with "W" mint marks) are struck under special care and are individually packaged, giving the coins a higher a premium compared to the non "W" mint mark 2018 Uncirculated Silver Eagles.

The U.S. Mint has not added any maximum mintage limits or any household ordering restrictions for the 2018-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles. Therefore, collectors can order as many as they wish. At PCGS we look forward to grading the new coins. To order the coins on or after May 24, 2018 (12:00 p.m.) visit the United States Mint website here. The U.S. Mint has assigned the coins Item #18EG.
