75th Anniversary March of Dimes Sets

-

On May 04, 2014 the U.S. Mint issued a special 75th Anniversary March of Dimes Silver 3 Coin Set. The set contained a March of Dimes Proof Commemorative 90% Silver Dollar. It also contained a 2015-W Proof 90% Silver Dime. And finally, it also contained a Reverse Proof 2015-P 90% Silver Dime. This is the first time that the U.S. Mint has struck a 90% Silver Proof Roosevelt Dime with a W Mint Mark. It is also the first time that the U.S. Mint has issued a Reverse Proof 90% Silver Dime.

The maximum set mintage of the 2015 March of Dimes Set has been set at a maximum of 75,000 sets produced. Additionally, the Mint allowed customers to purchase only 5 sets per household. The price of the sets was first announced on February 23, 2015 when the Mint decided to list them at an issue price of $61.95 each. Therefore, if someone ordered the 5 maximum sets allowed per household, they would be charged a total of $309.75 by the U.S. Mint. Due to its relatively low mintage of 75,000 coins struck for a Proof Roosevelt Dime and the allotted 5 sets per household limit, prices for the sets had already increased even before the coins went on sale or before May 4, 2015. Some large dealers were advertising to pay up to about $60 premium for the 5 sets adding even more popularity to these sets.

Time will tell if the 2015 March of Dimes Sets will be big winners. In the meantime, at PCGS we will be grading the sets. If you’d like more information on submitting your sets to PCGS, please feel free to visit us at PCGS.com.
