PCGS CoinFacts Update

PCGS Set Registry Update

Disco's roots trace back to an underground movement in New York City and Philadelphia. During the 1960s and early 1970s, technological advances propogated new music, and a dance craze emerged globally. Harmonious sounds from many different cultures fused into song and a dancing lifestyle dominated the globe. Disco de la Muerta, depicted on this frosted Deep Cameo 1997 5 Peso coin above has nothing to do with dancing. This "disk of death" mask was found during an excavation in Mexico City in 1964. Not much is known about this artifact, but it was found near a pyramid where human sacrifices were made. Teotihuacan was an ancient Mesoamerican city that had many pryamids and is located near present-day Mexico City. This city was built during the pre-Columbian (before the Spanish) era and may go back to as early as 200 BCE. The coin above is part of the Mexican Pre-Columbian Teotihuacan 5 Peso Onza Proof Set (1997) that collectors might consider completing on the PCGS Set Registry.

Additional sets from various countries have been added, so please feel free to browse the PCGS Set Registry when you have a chance and you may find there is a set for almost anyone to build.
